Back From The Dead

9 May 2025

Hi y'all, it's been a while. And an eventful while it's been. Lemme see if I can break down the broad strokes quickly, there's been a lot going on that I wanna get ya caught up on.

School

I've been wrapping up my final semester at my University. By this time next week, I'll have graduated. I'm not planning on walking or anything, so don't expect any fancy flashy photos here or anything. The thing that's taken up most of my time have been three big creative writing exercises for an elective and my big capstone project for my CS degree: programming a compiler. The compiler project has been consistently kicking my ass over this semester, and I've had to really grit my teeth and bunker down to get it done, but it's done! All I have left is two exams that I'm pretty confident about, and even if I fail everything except my compiler project I still should graduate.

Job Hunt

There's not much to say here. The economy's not in a good spot at all, and I've been hunting for jobs in my field. At this point, it looks like I might have to take something temporary to pass the time until I can get into a real proper job in my field. I'm sure it'll be fine. I'm sure.

Home Projects

I've spent a lot of time investing into a small little homelab for all my techy stuff. I fixed up an old desktop that I had in storage, and that's running as a remote device that I can use to host small things like little webapps, a Teamspeak server, and probably a Minecraft server or something when the next two-week Minecraft phase hits. I plan to write a bit about my home network setup here at some point (probably very soon, I will have a lot of free time on my hands soon).

What's next?

I'm not sure what's next. I plan to take it easy for a week or two after graduation. A friend from work and I have been getting really into World of Warcraft. He's brand new, an extreme casual, and playing World of Warcraft from a complete casual perspective is so.. liberating. I've not been able to enjoy this game just at a basic surface level in YEARS, but leveling through Dragonflight with him has really opened my eyes to a lot of fun that I've been stopping myself from having. I'll have a big proper post about that here soon.

I've also been thinking about starting up some kind of old-school-forum style written Let's Play, though I've yet to decide what I would play for that. I'll keep you posted.
